What year did the president and vice president start running together on a ticket?
Q. From what I recall, the winner of the presidential election became president and the loser became vice president. What year did this change to where the president and vice president run together on one ticket? I'd assume that having someone from one party as president and another party as vice was problematic at times. Any further history on this subject would be appreciated.

A. wow, what an excellent question! i can't help, either, but it had to be over 100 years ago...FDR back in the thirties picked his own running mate, i know that, but when it began, maybe someone even older than i can help. Heck, maybe google "running mates", gees, wow, i'm impressed with the intelligence of your question--aren't you impressed with my wishy washy answer? (lol)...good luck.

How is Vice President Cheney not part of the executive branch of the American government?
Q. Maybe I missed the civics lesson regarding characteristics of the vice presidency. To the best of my knowledge, the Vice President is a member of the government's executive branch, and the VP's role of president of the senate, was designed as an executive check upon the senate's powers. With this in mind, the VP would be a full-fledged member of the executive branch. I do not understand how Vice President Cheney can deny membership within the executive branch.

A. Well, what IS interesting is that he doesn't receive a paycheck as "Vice President", but as "President of the Senate" !! SOooo I can smile and laugh at his twisted logic. What screws up his "theory" is when he claimed "Executive Privilege" to prevent Scooter and others in his office from testifying. Not TOO much different from President Clinton claiming he couldn't be engaged in a lawsuit because he was Commander in Chief and therefore fell under the "Soldiers & Sailors Relief Act". He dropped that claim when he was advised that under UCMJ he would then be open to charges of Adultry and Sodomy.

A. I'd use a word processor. It saves time and checks your spelling. "Word" is popular with people who can bring home the installation disk from the office. The rest of us have to use an Open Source program. Start off with a mild joke about yourself. Follow that with a description of your qualifications, and finish with a vision of where you want the society to go, and how it can help make the world a better place. You can use the lines "We can change the world. We can't change much of it, and we can't change it much, but we can make it a better place". The "change the world" was free, I'll write the whole thing for you for $100. Write to me.

A. I assume your talking about making 'three finger' chords. I learned to use my little finger to hold down the high (littlest) E-string when making G Major. This leaves your index finger free to 'be ready' for the C Major chord.

What happens to a school when they don't have a principal or vice principal?
Q. I currently attend a Catholic school, and the principal job is open. So far, I don't think anyone has applied. When the school year comes around, what happens if we don't have a principal? Will the school close down? Will the students have to go to another school? Before my old principal resigned, we had no vice principal. So, we have no principal nor do we have a vice principal as of right now. What will happen?

A. Do not worry. The parish or the diocese will appoint a temporary principal. Most Catholic schools are run on a shoestring (very small) budget and do not have vice principals. With love in Christ.

Can a Vice President of an S corp dissolve the corporation?
Q. My partner has essetially stopped coming to work. In the last two weeks he has shown up a total of 6 hours. He is the president and I am vice president. Can I, as the vice president, dissolve the corporation without his consent?
Asked by mojosc - Sat Aug 18 14:33:44 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. A Vice President cannot dissolve a corporation. A vice president is an "officer" of the corporation and, as such, lacks the power or authority to dissolve. In most states in the U.S. (we know that this is a U.S. corporation because it is an "S Corporation"), a corporation may be dissolved only upon the majority vote of its shareholders. Your question seems to imply that you own a substantial percentage of the outstanding corporate stock. You should review the corporate records to find out who owns the outstanding stock and whether you, the other shareholder(s) and the corporation entered a "buy-sell agreement" (or similar agreement), which would govern this exact situation. If you would like further clarification, please re-post with… [cont.]

Who would make a good vice president for Hillary Clinton?
Q. I really think that if Hillary wins the primary election, she should choose Evan Bayh from Indiana to run as her Vice President. He is a lot more conservative. And the Democrats need to move from the far left closer to the center. Hillary is definitely more liberal and will need a more conservative running mate in the fall if she hopes to win.

How do I mount a vice on my workbench?
Q. I have an iron vice and want to know how close to put it to the edge of the workbench. I know it needs room for the wood, but do not know where to put it.
Asked by Connie S - Sun Jun 11 18:58:20 2006 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I would mount it on the corner. If its in the middle, then you will be hindered in your operations on what ever you want to do, as its always in the way. In the end, you will have the space of the table for long pieces... Now, if its an "old" huge vice like mine, I have it on the end. Then, my 8 foot of table space is free for my projects. I have mounted a light over the vice, so that I can see the "piece" that I am currently working on. Even if its an old "wood vice", its generally still either mounted on the end of the table, or the corner. You want your work bench as free as you can get it, to roam and not bump into things, that will "hurt" you, with sharp prongs or dull rods sticking into your body when you go "bump" as you… [cont.]

Can relatives be elected President and Vice President of the United States?
Q. For example, if Hillary Clinton ran for President, could she pick someone from her immediate family to be her Vice President? Or is this against the law?
Asked by Lloyd335 - Thu Feb 12 13:20:52 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes. Nothing in the Constitution prohibits this generally. However, in your scenario, she cannot pick Bill to be VP because under the Constitution, the VP must be able to also serve as President. Bill cannot because again under the Constitution, he is limited to 2 terms.

Who is more senior an Executive Vice President in the Parent company or a President of the subsidiary?
Q. Also please tell me can i make a subsidiary President hold a rank in my company e.g. President of Subsidiary Inc / Corporate Vice President Parent Inc. I think i saw this designation somewhere. Innovative / Out of the box ideas are welcome.
Asked by GM - Mon Aug 13 05:15:45 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The EVP of the parent company should be more senior than a subsidiary President. The subsidiary President can also have a senior position in the parent company. This depends if there is a need in the parent company for such a position and in accordance to the qualifications and expertise of the subsidiary President. Example is the President of a software development subsidiary can be VP for Technology of the parent company. Another example, the President of a subsidiary who manufactures consumer goods can also be the VP or EVP for Manufacturing of a parent company who has other subsidiaries w/c manufacture food and other consumer goods.

Q. Also please tell me can i make a subsidiary President hold a rank in my company e.g. President of Subsidiary Inc / Corporate Vice President Parent Inc. I think i saw this designation somewhere. Innovative / Out of the box ideas are welcome.
