What should I be charging for non regional computer repair work?
Q. I work for a computer repair organization that offers me out of regional deals with extra compensation for my time. These spots are upwards of 90 minutes away from where I live and eat a considerable amount of gas and time. I have to work out a contract with them per region. How much should I be asking for? My flat rate is $30 per local job (which are usually very easy) but for long trip that involve travel and gas, what should I be charging when working out a contract? Well it is $30 dollars flat per local area. if I am out of the local 5 mile area, I get a travel fee bonus. I'm doing a about a 2-2.5 hour job today for $50 bucks for example, to cover my gas and a little extra on the side. I feel this is a little bit low personally.… [cont.]

A. I don't know where you're living, but I used to charge $60 / hour. I had a friend who charged around $90. From what I've seen $60 - $120 / hour are within industry standards. You don't want to gouge people, but I think $30 an hour is too low, especially for jobs that involve travel. If you put a high value on your work, others will, too. If you put a low value on your work, others will, too. [edit: I would have charged about $150 for a 2.5 hour job. My friend would have charged about $225. He used to scold me for charging too little! A. There are a few languages in Iran which are totally different from one another and there are also different dialects for the country's main language, Farsi. For those parts in which people just speak Farsi but with different accents, it's not very difficult to understand. However, there are regions in which people do speak Farsi but the dialect is so different which it may sound totally strange. For example Yazd in central Iran or Kerman in southern Iran. The examples of regions at which people speak totally different language would be north west Iran (Azerbayjan), west Iran (Kurdistan), far south Iran, and north Iran (Mazandaran). How to play a DVD with a different regional code?
Q. I was given a DVD as a gift from a friend in Italy. However the encoding doesn't allow it to play on my DVD player. Any suggestions? Is it possible to play it on the computer? I haven't had much success with that yet either, but then, I usually don't watch things on the computer, so that could just be me. What should I do? The film is not available in US format yet, so I can't just buy a copy with the right regional code.

A. I have a friend in Sweden aswell who sent me a DVD, And I know Cyberlink PowerDVD playes PAL disks (that would be the encoding they use over there, We use NTSC). As for DVD players that play PAL DVD's I dont know much about, but I know she could play NTSC discs in hers, so there has to be dual capable ones. Oh and although this would sort of difficult but you could try hooking you PC up to your TV if its the screen size that bothers you. Just something to look into... cheers
