From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A society or a human society is a group of people related to each other through persistent relations such as social status, roles and social networks. Human societies are characterized by patterns of relationships between individuals sharing a distinctive culture and institutions. Without an article, the term refers either to the entirety of humanity or a contextually specific subset of people. Used in the sense of an association, a society is a body of individuals outlined by the bounds of functional interdependence, possibly comprising characteristics such as national or cultural identity, social solidarity, language or hierarchical organization. Canis lupus social ethologyLike other groupings, a society allows its members to achieve needs or wishes they could not fulfill alone; the social fact can be identified, understood or specified within a circumstance that certain resources, objectives, requirements or results, are needed and utilized in an individual manner and for individual ends, although they can't be achieved, gotten or fulfilled in an individual manner as well, but, on the contrary, they can be gotten only in a collective, collaborative manner; namely, team work becomes the valid functional means, to individual ends which an individual would need to have but isn't able to get. More broadly, a society is an economic, social or industrial infrastructure, made up of a varied collection of individuals. Members of a society may be from different ethnic groups. A society may be a particular ethnic group, such as the Saxons; a nation state, such as Bhutan; a broader cultural group, such as a Western society. The word society may also refer to an organized voluntary association of people for religious, benevolent, cultural, scientific, political, patriotic, or other purposes. A "society" may even, though more by means of metaphor, refer to a social organism such as an ant colony or any cooperative aggregate such as for example in some formulations of artificial intelligence. What would society look like if no one gave of their time to help others unless they were paid for it? - This is for my class and I just wanted a few pointers on what others think. Please help :) Thanks, BDub! Asked by LilBurt - Tue May 25 12:12:46 2010 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. It would be horrible. I know people say thats how it is but it is not, i help people all the time and just this week this is what has happened to me. I left my lights on and had to get a jump...no charge Stranger helped me carry at 80 pound bag of dog food to the car...no charge Coming out of the store parking lot waited 20 minutes, a car slowed down and let me in... We do little things all the time to help people. If we did not the world would be a sad place imagine asking an old lady for a dollar before you held the door open for her? Or charging for letting someone with one item go ahead of you at the store? We would all walk around with cards around our neck stating what we charged for each service and people would be in our face… [cont.] Answered by Platesandscrews - Tue May 25 12:55:31 2010 How old to Society Finches have to be in order to mate? Q. I have 3 Society Finches that were born in the spring, so they're 6-9 months old. I found out there's two males and one female. Once they pair up and all, how old do they have to be to start mating? Asked by Holly - Wed Oct 28 12:45:39 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. A good age for your society finches to start breeding is 9 months old. You also need to make sure your society finches are in good breeding condition. They need to be on a well-balanced diet with plenty of calcium. Calcium is needed for egg formation and so that the female doesn't become egg bound. Also, don't breed any ill or molting finches. Q. Let's say there is a pandemic, global economic collapse, peak oil, climate change, or all of these disasters happening in response to the other. What would be the repercussions on society? Keep in mind that these events would be life changing as well as very historical. How would life change? Lastly, how real is the possibility of such an event or events happening? What are your thoughts on this. Asked by Tom - Sat Apr 24 00:40:20 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments From Yahoo Answer Search: "Society" Quotes about society. This theme article is a stub.
